In a D minor chord there are 3 different notes: D, F, and A.  When you strum them all together you have a D minor chord.  They can be placed in any order any where on the fretboard, even doubled, it will still be a D minor chord.

Alternate D minor:

D does not have to be the lowest note in the chord.  If it isn’t there will be a slash / with a note to the bottom right indicating which note is the lowest.
